Woodland Faerie

This painting was done in a variety of mediums ranging from acrylics, oils, watercolours and gouache with some glitter to add sparkle.

Here a Faerie pauses in a woodland grove, she looks and listens. All the while she is connecting with the Tree Spirits all around her, as orbs of energy pulse in the air. In her hand she holds a ceremonial staff, carved within the handle is the head of a Wolf, her mentor and totem. At her feet Fly Agaric and Digitalis [Faerie Foxgloves] nod their heads in approval, linked as they all are to the world of the elementals.

Again the scanning process has changed the colours somewhat. Here though Lilacs and soft greens are predominant. I wanted to give a sense of dusk, that time when humans become quieter, and faeries become alert and roam more freely on this earth. Since earliest childhood I have believed that each Tree has an energy, a personality, a spirit, call it what you will. I have always seen faces in Trees and felt that I could communicate with Trees, each and everyone being individual and unique. In this painting I wanted to reflect something that I have felt and seen countless times as dusk falls. It is as if another world awakens, and if we are willing to open our eyes and our hearts, then we can truely see the magic,the wonder, and all that is faerie.
