Healing Smudge Wands
Throughout the all the ages of man, we have had a reverence for, and relationship with birds. In many cultures around the globe, birds are regarded as 'sacred messengers', sending our prayers and healing wishes to the Creator, to the heavens. We are pleased to honour this ancient tradition.
Each bird is believed to have different healing energies [see our bird symbolism article for more information], and when a particular bird feather is used within a wand, ceremonial object, or indeed outfit, it is believed that the energy of that bird resides within the feathers that are used.
Our wands are made using feathers from 'live, healthy birds'. Our Turkey feathers are donated by Polly and Percy in Harrogate, they live a free-range lifestyle amidst the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. Their feathers are naturally maulted, my friend Ann also provides me with naturally maulted pheasant feathers. Other feathers are sourced from a bird sanctuary in Lincolnshire, whilst still others are provided by falconer friends, and friends who have pet chickens. Again, I must emphasize that all these feathers are from 'live, healthy birds' and again I feel I should reiterate that they are naturally maulted, and available to me 'only' at certain times of the year.
According to CITES - The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora, and under international agreement, it is against the law to trade in feathers that may unduly harm or threaten the survival of certain, if not all bird species. Here at Sacred Earth Sacred Art we are in total agreement.
In addition, we are unable to send any of our feather wands to the United States and Canada as this would contravene their legislation with regard to the protection of certain species of birds, and birds of prey.
Each healing smudge wand is cleansed and blessed throughout the creative process, and every effort is made to ensure that the energies within each wand is as 'pure as possible' so as to serve the 'highest good'. We have endeavoured to honour the traditions and practices of the past in our wand making, whilst also endeavouring to offer a unique product, that will not only serve your needs, but also offer you something that has a style and significance that is not repeated anywhere else.

A natural Turkey feather smudge wand with plain Goose feathers and dyed black Deerskin handle and tassle detail.

Angels Embrace
A dyed Royal Blue Turkey feather with Turkey fluffs in soft white. An Angel, her arms aloft, holds within her grasp a faux crystal heart. All around her are flowers and leaves. The handle is bound in part, in suede, with a blue metal cord wrap and synthetic blue beaded tassle to the side.

Cosmic Alignment
A dyed green Turkey feather with Peacock feather embellishment [Peacock feathers are said to signify 'God's Eyes watching over us, keeping us safe from harm']. These feathers are also said to aid our connection the Cosmos, the Sun, and aid our psychic abilities. The handle is bound in sparkly, glittery blue, lace type binding.
The colour green is said to bring balance to mind, body and spirit, whilst the colour blue is said to be calming and aid healing.

A natural Turkey, Goose and Chicken feather wand, with dyed peach Turkey fluffs [to mimic the Flamingo tail plumage]. At the tip of the central feather is the Eye of Horus, offering 'healing and insight, the Flamingo stands beneath, conveying the delicate balance of life. The handle is wrapped in beige suede with tassle detail to the base.

It is said by some that placing, or hanging your feather smudge wand near the entrance of your home may ensure that all who live there will be 'safe from harm' and that the 'eyes of the Creator will watch over you'.
