Hand Painted Glass

It has been nearly two decades since I completed my first glass painting, and from the moment I finished that first painting I was completely and utterly 'hooked'.

What particularly drew me to glass painting was the fact that I could paint on objects that I could either use or display around my home. Candleholders in glass, adorned with paintings, the light of the candle's flame flickering through the painting and making the colours glow, was to me utterly mesmerizing. When I placed a candle holder I had painted on a shelf or table. I could see myriad images and a rainbow of hues illuminate my surroundings. I can think of no other medium which can have quite the same effect, nor brighten our environment or lift our spirits in quite the same way. Over the years many therapists, healers and others working in the holistic genre have chosen to use our candle holders in their place of work to create a magical ambience.

Over time I progressed to painting glass framed panels, and later still - huge window panes for private homes and businesses. Yet my first love is still to paint candle holders. Each design is unique to Sacred Earth Sacred Art, and I welcome enquiries with regard to commissioned pieces.

Professional quality, spirit based glass paints are used, as I feel these offer the best colour density and also durability. Each painting is finished with a coat of protective sealant. However, all paintings are 'water resistant' rather than 'waterproof', and are not intended for contact with food stuffs. To clean your glassware please use a dry, lint free cloth, and gently dust over the item.
