Mirrors are all too often undervalued, and taken for granted in the magical panacea. Yet mirrors can make us feel good. Why you might ask? Because they bring 'light into our lives'. As corny as that may seem, it is important.
Mirrors Of Inspiration
Before human beings discovered how to make mirrors, we relied on rock pools and lakes so that we might see our reflection. Later still, man learned how to polish crystals and minerals in order to see his or her reflection.
Numerous superstitions abound with regard to mirrors, seven years of bad luck should you break a mirror [the remedy is apparently to bury the shards in the earth], Vampires and Witches cast no reflection in mirrors [apparently those with 'no soul' are unable to cast a reflection].
Over the centuries as man's technological skills developed , those with wealth and affluence sought to acquire bigger, grander mirrors. However before too long, mirrors became accessible and affordable to the masses. In fact I would guess that it is highly likely that not too far from where you are now sitting - there is a mirror hung somewhere in your home. You see what I mean? we have come to take these bringers of light [mirrors] for granted...
Here at Sacred Earth Sacred Art we wish to celebrate the long and rich tradition of mirror magic - 'mirrors of inspiration'. What is that inspiration? what is that magic? Well my answer comes in three parts. Firstly, mirrors bring light into our lives, they reflect and radiate brightness , and this can uplift our spirits. Secondly, mirrors show our reflection, they remind us that we are all miracles of creation. Mirrors you 'see' [pun intended] can offer us a sense of 'self', who we are? and from whence we sprang? Lastly, but by no means least, the images painted on sacred earth- sacred art mirrors offer 'inspiration'. On each hand decorated mirror frame are painted images that reflect myth, legend, Faeries, Gods and Goddesses, Wolves and Wizards, Birds and beasts, and and all that is wonderful in our lives and imaginings.
The imagery that decorates our hand painted mirror frames seeks to express 'the magical', 'the mystical', it seeks to inspire, to make you smile, to make you pause, to help you to reflect...
Each of our hand painted creations is 'one of a kind' and signed by the Faerie Lady. Many of our mirror frames are also adorned with crystals, small mirrored tiles, and glitter and faerie dust are also often used to add that' magical sparkle'.
